In obedience to the Great Commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20 and to the vision given by God to the prophet Isaiah 2:2-5, we are committed to reaching the unreached neighbours with the message of the good news of Jesus Christ as the nations have come to us in New Zealand. Our ministry involves evangelising, establishing, enabling and equipping the church.

RESTRUCTURING RUN MINISTRIES

RUN Ministries was established in 2004 as a unique and exciting form of ministry, with Rev’d Shashikant Christian as the full-time, stipended Missioner. 

In the 5 years that followed, Shashikant and the ministry have earned a reputation throughout New Zealand for being relevant, high quality and practical.  Many ministry units and individuals have been educated about other faiths and cross-cultural mission, and encouraged and equipped to minister sensitively in their local settings.  The ministry has been very effective and there is much for which we can give thanks and celebrate.

However, costs have continued to rise and it has proven very difficult to attract sufficient financial support to sustain the ministry on the same basis.  While existing support from NZCMS and others remains in place for 2009, that alone is not sufficient, and it is now apparent that RUN Ministries has to be restructured if it is to continue in the future.  Without significant new financial support, regretfully RUN Ministries has had to make redundant the current position of Missioner as a full-time, stipended appointment as from 1 July 2009. 

That does not mean, however, that the work of RUN Ministries will cease.  There is sufficient funding for a part-time appointment, and financial provision for Shashikant after 1 July has been made through the Diocese of Auckland.  The Trustees are currently exploring what form a restructuring of RUN Ministries might take, particularly in relation to the role of the Missioner. 

Many different options need to be explored, such as new key supporters, reduction in scope, amalgamation with another appointment, or other combinations.  As we work through this process, please pray for wisdom, for awareness of God’s plans for this ministry, for the necessary financial provision, and for peace for Shashikant and his family.
